Crane building has been another business segment for the Roßlauer Schiffswerft since 1993. A distinction is made between ship cranes, industrial cranes and crane accessories.
The RSW Roßlauer Schiffswerft supplies large numbers of crane cabins and crane booms for container handling cranes, service cranes, multi-purpose cranes, and heavy-duty cranes with a lifting capacity from 20 t to 1,000 t. The components can be supplied to the customer completely hydraulically or electrically equipped or just as steel components, as requested. Such booms and cabins can weigh up to 60 t each.
RSW builds industrial cranes to customer specification for a wide variety of applications. Between 2004 and 2013, 39 large crane systems were supplied to customers. In the year 2011 alone, 9 cranes with corresponding crab frames with a total weight of more than 1,000 t left the RSW halls for one customer. This order was completed within just a 6-month construction period.
Each crane is mechanically machined and is completely assembled in the plant before delivery. Assembled, the largest crane systems cover an area of up to 1,000 m2. The crab frame alone can be the size of a small family house.
The transport to the destination of the fully equipped mechanical components is made by truck or barge/pontoon.
The corresponding equipment for cranes such as cross beams, swing arms, hook blocks, top blocks etc are manufactured by RSW in its Mechanical Engineering Department.
